About Future Hope Pediatrics

Dr White opened Future Hope Pediatrics in 2008 by in Shelbyville, Kentucky.  She is a board certified pediatrician with over 20 years of experience.  As a mother of nine children, she understands the concerns of parents quite well.  As an adoptive mom, she also understands the unique needs of adoptive families.
As a physician, Dr White has always been a minimalist… believing in the body’s innate ability to heal and a parent’s intuitive understanding of their child.  She is more inclined to provide natural treatment options than prescriptions— giving your child’s body the tools it needs to do the work it was created to do.  And that philosophy is the underlying principal of care at Future Hope Pediatrics.  Whether you see Dr. White or one of our other providers, that philosophy is woven through the care you will receive.  Our approach can be quite different than mainstream medicine, but we are confident that it promotes Real Health and healing.

Future Hope Pediatrics is a primary care pediatric practice.  We partner with you to help your child grow and thrive.  That is done through regular well child appointments and acute care sick visits.  Our desire is to help you, as the parent, to learn the skills that you need to take care of your child.  For instance, we want you to know what to do when your child is sick… so that you don’t need us.  You will be confident to stay home and snuggle with your child and meet their needs.  We believe that each parent is the best person to know what is right for their child… our job is to partner with you to improve those skills.  From Dr White, to our other knowledgeable practitioners to our awesome staff, we want to help you and your child find out how to achieve Real Health.

While we can address some chronic conditions in this general pediatric setting, others may need to be referred for specialist care.  For instance, if your child has a heart murmur, we will refer you to a pediatric cardiologist for further evaluation and treatment.  In the same way, when complex conditions arise, like severe gut inflammation, attention deficit disorder, anxiety, etc, and exceed the normal scope of pediatric practice they may be referred to Future Hope Total Health— which is a Functional Medicine Practice.   In a general pediatric setting we don’t have the capability to manage complex medical issues.  That would be ideal, but the current insurance based model doesn’t allow for that.  Dr. White opened Future Hope Total Health in 2017 to help meet those needs for both children and adults.  You will always have the option of pursuing a more conventional specialist route, but Future Hope Total Health allows more in depth care consistent with the philosophy of the pediatric practice.

Please give us a call with any questions you have about how we work, and whether or not we are the right fit for your family.
